Decide how you want to feel

This week can be an energetic doozy, with the impending Christmas holiday, the end of Hanukkah, and tomorrow's Winter Solstice. We have a lot going on this time of year and, no matter what you do (or don't) celebrate, the busyness is heightened. Everywhere I've been in the last week, it's been so crowded!

So, I am making a point to keep things grounded and quiet in my world. I encourage you to do the same!

Now is a time to pause and let yourself really be in your own body - a time to feel centered and to get clear on how you'll approach this weekend's festivities, how you want to close the year and how you want to spend your days off.

For me, that means not making any plans or creating any expectations for holiday meals. This year, I want to be in flow of what feels and sounds good each day. 

My husband, Aaron, and I have discussed going to Rocky Mountain National Park or to a movie for Christmas. We have discussed having chicken wings and snack plates instead of a traditional meal. We'll see how we feel and that's what we'll do!

This season, my body wants nothing over the top. So, that's what I'm committing to.

What does your body want?

When I say body, I really mean what is your gut wisdom telling you it wants?

Your gut wisdom can be what you define as your inner wisdom, your intuition, your soul, your divine connection...

The messages it brings come through your body, in the form of "feelings" or "knowings," and they're always present if you listen. 

This time of year when family, community, and society have their own expectations of what we should be doing, it can be hard to follow those gut wisdom messages.

Because our whole being (emotional, mental, spiritual) is reflected in our body, it's an extra important time of year to listen. Otherwise, it's easy to fall into overload and feel exhausted and overwhelmed - all a direct result of your nervous system's response going against what your body really wants and needs. 

My suggestion to you is to pause and get centered!

You can do this by going for a silent walk in nature, by sitting with your journal and asking what you most need to follow, by being with sacred girlfriends and talking honestly about what you want to do this week.

Or, if you feel like you don't have time for that, sit in your car for an extra moment before entering the grocery store or party. Take a few deep breaths and ask yourself, how do I want to feel in there? You'll know what to do to make that happen. Just listen and receive the message. 

You get to decide how it goes. 
You get to decide between the veggie plate or the sugar cookies.
You get to decide between the extra glass of champagne or the extra glass of water.
You get to decide between the unfulfilling chit chat or going home to snuggle your dog.
You get to decide between running another busy errand or taking yourself on a walk.
You get to decide!

To ensure you have the most energy, the most balanced mood and the most fulfilling time this week, follow your body's wisdom!

Take the time to get centered and decide how you want to feel.

It will definitely be worth it,
