My favorite new year rituals

As you may have read last week, when the clock strikes midnight on January first, it doesn’t do much for me. It just feels like another moment in time. But, it does remind me that everyday, no matter what month it is, the clock of my life is ticking and that I want to make every moment count!

So, while I do not make resolutions, I do like to take some time and reflect on what I accomplished the previous year (it's easy to forget all the good stuff) and what I want to accomplish this coming year.

Rather than a resolution that may not go as I had hoped, I prefer to envision and embody how I want to live my year.

Today, I want to share some of my favorite ways to do this!

Ready to get really clear on what you want for yourself this year?

Last week, I did a wonderful exercise from Susannah Conway, who I had never heard of until I received an email sharing her wonderful year-end/new-year workbook. I quickly fell in love!

The workbook takes you through a reflection of 2016 and an envisioning of 2017. It took me 2 hours to complete, but you can spread it out (or cozy up tonight with it).

Her "Unravel Your Year" workbook can be found here.

Writing things out helps you tap into emotions that you may not be discussing, or even fully feeling! Writing helps you recognize patterns and symptoms that your body is expressing, that you may be "ignoring." Writing helps you notice when things repeat themselves in your world, which may be messages for you. And all of that is so powerful.

Susannah's workbook is simple enough that you will easily be able to let the magic unfold. It's not about a novel, it's about quick answers to deeper questions.

Other than doing this reflective and envisioning exercise, there are some great ways to begin a new year, so that you're clear on what you want, everyday. Remember, it's not about resolutions, it's about feeling empowered.

My favorite empowering exercises to include as the year begins are :

Don't set a lofty resolution, but do something small everyday, and make it count!

I live my days holding deep visions of what I want and consistently devote time to dream about my ideal life. From years of living this way, I can tell you for sure : having guideposts, like these, make it easier to come back to your desires, again and again.

I hope these inspire you take some small action, to envision what you want and to really go for it this year!

Wishing you an amazing 2017!
